Welcome Charlotte

We’ve been lucky enough to welcome two new teachers to the Pilates East team recently. We sat down with Charlotte to have a chat and find out a little bit more about her…

Charlotte is an experienced dance, movement and Pilates teacher who has recently joined the Pilates East team, currently teaching our super popular Ballet Barre class on Wednesday evening alongside a new Stretch & Mobility class, the perfect class to include in your routine alongside your running, cycling or traditional Pilates class!

Tell us about how you got into Pilates

To be truthful, the first time I tried pilates I was a super bendy 18 year in professional dance training, and I didnt really appreciate it. Pilates wasn’t fast and exciting enough for me! It was only after a back injury, forcing me to slow down and really examine how my body was moving with pilates based rehab, that I truly understood and appreciated the power of the method. I’ve loved it ever since!

How would you describe your teaching style?

Creative, energetic and joyful! I love what I do and I hope that comes across in my classes.

What do you love most about Pilates?

For me and my body, pilates isn’t only about getting stronger, but about tuning into the way we move and really appreciating the detail in that. It helps me feel more balanced and in control, not just in class but in everyday life too. Its a practice that keeps teaching me patience, resilience and how good it feels to move with intention.

Three favourite exercises?

Scissors, Saw and anything feet in straps!

One interesting fact we might not know about you?

I have a curated playlist for every mood and occasion – including “Heavy metal yoga”, “Hypothetical dance pieces” and “Songs to sing in the car when no one can hear you”

What motivates you?

What motivates me is seeing the real change that movement can bring to people’s lives. I’ve always been fascinated by how the body works, and even more so by how powerful it can be when we learn to move with awareness and intention. Our bodies really are amazing, when we take the time to listen.

And lastly, why should everyone do Pilates?

Because pilates is for everyone! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced mover there’s a pilates for you.

Be sure to say hello and give Charlotte a warm welcome to the Pilates East team!
